Over the course of the chapters, we understand the role of maps in wars, throughout history, from the beginning of time to the modern era, and their evolution in relation to the changes in wars themselves, the increasing use of efficient artillery, the development of aviation, and more.
This fascinating book features a large number of maps.
Surprisingly, however, the maps’ captions describe the battles represented on the maps and not the elements of the map or the techniques in map-making. Also, the illustrations do not necessarily correspond to the texts; in fact, they rarely do.
